Apply for office
All students at Santa Barbara City College are encouraged and invited to serve on ASG. Twelve positions are appointed by application at the beginning of each Fall semester.
Requirements: Applicants must be enrolled in at least 5 units of credit coursework, be in Academic and Progress Good Standing, and have a minimum of a 2.5 GPA. Officers must maintain these standards while serving in their positions.

Your participation in student government at SBCC can prove to be one of the most valuable and meaningful experiences of your college career. You'll need to commit time and effort, but nearly all who've served on ASG will tell you it's worth the investment.
Your participation in student government is recognized favorably by the colleges and universities that you hope to transfer to, as well as prospective employers. Additionally, you'll have a voice in what decisions are made on campus, and you'll have the opportunity to associate with and learn from college administrators, faculty, staff, and other driven students.
You'll gain experience in public administration, parliamentary procedure, project development, event planning, fundraising, financial management, marketing, public relations, and much more. Additionally, being in a leadership role and participating in decision-making will cultivate your personal qualities and leadership skills.
